Vladimir Martus started his sailing career at 14. He has raced for his country’s National Sailing Team for 12 years (Olympic classes).
Graduated from the St Petersburg University of shipbuilding as a naval architect in 1990. Built two large wooden replica sailing ships: Schooner “St Peter” (80 feet, 1991) and frigate “Shtandart” (110 feet, 1999).
As captain of the Shtandart, he has taken part in Tall Ship Racing since 2001. Vladimir has directed several large maritime events and festivals. He was Chief Liaison officer in St Petersburg TSR 2009. He is also a qualified RYA Yachtmaster/Instructor  and President of the non-profit sail-training organisation “Shtandart Project”.

The conditions

For the FASTEST SAILING SHIP in her time (1869), an exact replica of the famous tea-clipper.

We  need a logo. It must be an attractive symbol, energetic, modern, dynamic, young-adventurous-people oriented. Present the name Cutty Sark 2Sail as a play-of-words (this is a second Cutty Sark ship).

Our Organization is a UK registered international charitable Foundation called Cutty Sark 2Sail. Our motto is “Where there’s a will there’s a way” (if possible, include it in the Logo). We are going to build an exact copy of the famous tea-clipper Cutty Sark, and sail her around the globe as a sail-training and cargo ship, carrying traditional cargoes under sail only.

The name Cutty Sark 2Sail will allow for playing around the modern way of writing SMS: 2Sail = to sail. Important – the original (First) clipper is existing as a stationary museum in Greenwich, so we are building the Second ship Cutty Sark. So the digit “2” should play an important visual role in written name. People should see our logo as The Second Cutty Sark. Cutty Sark was the nickname given to the a young and beautiful witch, Nannie Dee. A character from the famous poem of Robert Burns.  A young beautiful witch could be the theme for the new logo, as well as the sailing ship.
We need to be careful  NOT TO REPEAT or closely resemble any of the existing logos related to Cutty Sark (make your search with the words Cutty Sark here https://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmtext.htm ). We want our logo to be quite different to other tall-ships logos.

Our mission and values are described in the attached files. Out target audience are young (18-35) successful people. They are quite independent, open-minded, looking for new experience and adventures.
We want to attract volunteers from many countries as the builders of the Clipper, and later as her sailors. So we expect your logo design to be attractive for young independent professionals .

We will use this logo on all sorts of media: web-site and Facebook pages, videos, company stationery, souvenirs, t-shirts etc.
When the ship is completed, she will sail with traditional cargo (tea) across the oceans. Our logo will be printed on exclusive tea packages, delivered in a traditional and environmentally-friendly way.

We do not set any limits regarding what the Logo should look like. It might be an image of sails or sailing ship, or it might not. Its up to you. Please study our files, mission and values, have a look at the attached picture of sailing ships, which inspired us.  You will see – there are many dimensions to what we are doing. We would expect your skill and fantasy to create an image with many dimensions/levels of understanding.

“CUTTY SARK 2SAIL FOUNDATION”

After a meeting of the Trustees in London on Monday, we are delighted to confirm that the name “Cutty Sark 2Sail Foundation” will be our official title.

The finance team has been appointed and the Trust Constitution and Application forms are being prepared to comply with the Charity requirements.

We are making contact with mainstream TV media and the search for potential construction sites in the UK and other countries is underway, the detailed information and SWOT analysis to be available by the end of April 2015.

We are also working on a logo and a company style.
Ideas are welcome!

A natural sales executive, Lina is happy to help with searching for construction sites and generating creative crowdfunding ideas.
She is the engine that keeps us going and she never stops thinking out of the box. She speaks fluent Spanish, Portuguese, and links the project with many countries.

Roman Abylkhatov is an IT engineer at Microsoft UK. For the Cutty Sark Replica project he is responsible for establishing the IT infrastructure to help coordinate the team work and volunteers activities online.

Maria Savelieva is a Logistics manager in consumer electronics production. She is experienced in international trade management, launching new sites, growing required supply chains. Focused and flexible, her job is to drive government relations, negotiations with officials and suppliers, and to develop the project structure and income opportunities.
